Game Fishing and Sportfishing
Some rigging procedures required in game fishing or sportfishing can look complicated even daunting. However, with the right equipment and a small amount of practice, most are in fact simple to complete. Different material such as wire, Dacron and heavy monofilament leaders all make for a challenge when rigging and creating fishing knots. Fishermen have always taken on the challenge of large ocean going fish. The fish usually wins the fight when care isn’t taken in the rigging process. Sportfishing enthusiast take great pride in their rigging technique and for good reason.
 
he Dacron Leader Splice is a method of attaching heavy monofilament leader to Dacron.
Every so often, the need to join two lengths of Dacron crops up. Most frequently this is in game fishing situations. The method of splicing Dacron, shown here, is secure and the most common method used by game fishermen.
This two hook rig is primarily used in game fishing for trolling lures.
The Flemish Eye is primarily uses as a game fishing rig, with specific application for use in seven and forty-nine strand wire traces.
Whilst it is not the quickest to splice to perform, a double plait is a great way to retain maximum line strength and, although tricky, it is well worth mastering for its wide application.
This is a method of connecting a class tippet to a shock tippet without the need for a double.
