When attaching a leader to braided fishing line or dacron fishing line, the choice becomes limited. Contrary to popular conception most braided fishing line is highly susceptible to wear and highly prone to slippage. These problems can become exaggerated do to two different line types being joined. Marinews.com refers to these fishing lines as super-lines. Super-lines in that they are fine, limp, have little stretch, lack memory and are very strong. They are, however, susceptible to wear and they do require extra care in both knot choice and knot when joining braid to leader. Differing line diameters created with the joining of the finer super-lines to heavier leaders exasperates the problems. Slippage is of major concern and only a few knots are suitable for the task. The illustrated knots here are suitable for both saltwater fishing and freshwater fishing situations
